Dahlia societies, both local and national, are a wealth of knowledge and great way to connect with fellow dahlia enthusiasts.
KNOXVILLE DAHLIA SOCIETY
Founded in 2023 and located in Knoxville, TN, the Knoxville Dahlia Society is a participating membership organization of the American Dahlia Society. We have grown from a group of folks chatting about dahlias to almost 70 members strong. We have monthly meetings that cover a broad range of dahlia topics from soil prep and propagation, to flower farming and exhibit dahlias at competitive shows. We are generously mentored by the Tennessee Dahlia Society, by growers with 30+ years experience. Our members donate and host an annual tuber sale, as well as have tuber swaps each holiday season. TENNESSEE DAHLIA SOCIETY
The Tennessee Dahlia Society, located in Chattanooga, TN was founded in 1914. Wow that is amazing!! With ~ 60 members, from new growers to those with decades of experience, this group has something for everyone. If you want to grow dahlias for exhibiting in competition, Ray Phillips - a Senior Judge, can teach you everything you could possibly need to know. There are also amazing hybridizers that have contributed to this group, Gilly Simmons, and still contributing, Ray Phillips (Sidehill Trishie) and Harold Stewart (HS Sammie). TDS is also a member of the Southern Division, which hosts the regional ADS sanctioned shows and includes the Dahlia Society of Alabama and Dahlia Society of Georgia and works closely with Carolinas Dahlia Society. AMERICAN DAHLIA SOCIETY
The American Dahlia Society is the U.S. national dahlia society that governs the local societies and host the annual national dahlia society show. There is a ton of member only info provided through the ADS website, as well as The Bulletin, the ADS printed publication that comes to your door three times a year.
